Tips for tracking your weight

A regular record can help you see how your weight changes over time. For more comparable readings, choose the same day each week and weigh yourself at a similar time, ideally in the morning. Use the same scales on a firm, level surface and wear similar, light clothing each time.

Write down each reading using the same units throughout your book. When recording your waist measurement, use the same measuring point each time, keep the tape level and snug without pulling it tight, and measure after breathing out naturally.

Look at the pattern across several weeks rather than focusing on a single reading. Body weight can fluctuate with hydration, meals and other everyday factors, so a short-term change does not necessarily show a lasting trend.

This book is a record-keeping aid, not a medical assessment or a weight-loss plan. If you are concerned about your weight or notice unexplained changes, speak to a healthcare professional. If tracking causes anxiety or distress, pause and seek support.
