Keep your sales figures organised with the Castlemaker S016 Sales Record Book. This straightforward A4 account ledger includes VAT and analysis columns, helping you record sales and break down income in one easy-to-reference place.

Whether you are catching up after a busy trading day or reviewing the month's figures, a dedicated sales book keeps your handwritten records together and ready to consult.

Clear, practical sales records

  • VAT and analysis columns: record VAT amounts alongside sales and organise income into categories that suit your business.
  • 15 double-page charts: a spread-out layout for keeping entries and figures together.
  • A4 format: 297 × 210mm, with room for everyday handwritten bookkeeping.
  • 32 pages: a dedicated book for your sales records.
  • 90gsm white paper: a practical writing surface for regular use.

Keeping clear and useful sales records

A regular recording routine makes it easier to see where income comes from, trace individual transactions and prepare information for your bookkeeper or accountant. Use this book alongside your invoices, receipts and payment records, rather than as a replacement for them.

  • Record sales promptly: note the date, a brief description or customer reference, an invoice or receipt number and the amount. Keep supporting documents in the same order so entries are easy to trace.
  • Use consistent categories: assign analysis columns to useful income groups, such as product ranges, services or sales channels, and use the same headings throughout the book.
  • Distinguish sales from payments: where customers pay later, keep a separate note of what is outstanding and when payment arrives. Avoid counting the original sale and its later payment as two sales.
  • Keep adjustments traceable: record refunds, discounts and corrections clearly and link them to the original transaction where possible.
  • Check figures regularly: total each analysis column and compare the results with your sales total. Check entries against invoices, receipts, cash records and payment-provider or bank statements, allowing for fees and payment timing.
  • Review income over time: prepare weekly or monthly summaries to compare trading periods and see which categories contribute most to sales.
  • Store records securely: keep the book and supporting paperwork together in a safe, dry place, and consider retaining readable digital copies as a backup.

These are practical organisation tips, not tax or accounting advice. Ask your bookkeeper or accountant how to fit the book into your business's accounting process.
